Williamston

I don’t like this sign.

Williamston has about 20 state championships in a number of sports.

I don’t like how they are all lumped together on one sign in text so small that it nearly impossible to read.

To get this picture I had to pull to the side of the road and get within 10 feet of it and I still couldn’t read them. When I zoom in on this picture I still can’t read all of them clearly.

Furthermore (and I know I’m starting to sound like “Get off my lawn” guy) parts of this sign was covered by a lot of vegetation, that I moved.

In my quick research, one of the most dominant athletes to come out of Williamston was Linda Merrifield. She is an inductee in the Great Lansing Area Sports Hall of Fame.

She was a 10 time All-State Honoree and 7 time State Champion in these events:

100 – 1974, 1975, 1976
220 – 1976
440 Relay – 1975, 1976
880 Relay – 1976
