This was our 150th sign!

A little controversy over this sign. Some in our car said it wasn’t a typical “Home Of” sign because it wasn’t associated with a city and that if we allowed this one we could add any high school field that said Home of the (Insert mascot name here). I cast the deciding vote and it’s in – mostly because Thompson Field is the home of the streak.

“The Streak” was 72 straight wins and 3 straight state championships during that span.
The MHSAA didn’t have an official state championship tournament until 1975. Before then the championships were voted on. (They were voted runners up 3 times during the streak as well).

The streak stood as a national record until the 90s. Ithaca came close with their streak in the

The streak came to an end in the 1975 title game against Ishpeming.
