Addison

Near the bottom of our great state roughly in the middle is a little town called Addison where they had one of the state’s great wrestling dynasties.

According to my research, in addition to the 5 state team titles, there have been 37 individual state champs and nearly as many runner-ups.

As impressive as leading the teams to the ’05 ’06 and ’07 titles,  longtime coach Rick Sherry played another high profile role in the community by heading up the Rake and Run program where elementary school PE classes rake leaves randomly in the community.  (Here’s a great article about it – Addison fifth-graders serve community through Rake and Run)

If you ever find yourself in the area, turn your radio to 95.7 the Panther and listen to the Addison school owned, and student run radio station.
