Two of my best friends in the world grew up in Holly.
They go back regularly and drive right by this sign. AND they know I “collect” these signs.
One night, while we were in Holly I asked them and they said, “No, no signs, here.”
There were a few things that were worthy of a sign, like:
- Air Force Lt. Karl Richter, the youngest pilot to shoot down a MIG fighter in the Vietnam war and overall hero is from Holly.
- The Holly Dicken’s Festival is the oldest, longest running Dickens Festival in the United States!
- The Michigan Renaissance Festival is an annual occurrence and opportunity to walk around in tights and/or eat a whole turkey drumstick without anyone thinking anything is odd about you.
But my eagle eyed friend Tim (he’s found a few signs) noticed this one on the wall. Little trivia for you, Tim also found the sign on the wall of a building in Elsie.
Most notably, Holly was, until just recently, the home of a great man, that was a great dad to my great friend. R.I.P. Amos.
