Lakeview

My go-to site to site when looking at Home of Signs that mention a high school state championship is MHSAA.com.

I looked up past state champions for boys basketball and sure enough, the Lakeview Wildcats lost to Ishpeming 69-61 in 1995.

But, I also found that they were the runner up again in 1964, falling to River Rouge 86-67 (Here’s a black and white, no-sound video of the game)

And…in 1957 a Lakeview team won the state championship beating Kalamazoo Christian 76-68. I know there are a few Lakeview High Schools, but I found an old Free Press article that talked about Lakeview’s upset of Edmore only 13 miles away.

So I think it might be time to update the sign and recognize those other teams!
