Elk Rapids

The sign says 1997 and 1998 Division 4 Boys Soccer State Champs. Great accomplishment, gentlemen.

But what it doesn’t say is the same Elk Rapids team as runner up in 1995 and 1996.

It doesn’t say that the ’97 team only lost one game (to 22 wins) and only gave up 9 goals for the entire season. Or that they scored over 6 goals per game.

That little sign doesn’t talk about the 30 All State players they had during that 4 year run. Or of the 47 First Team All State players they have had in 33 seasons. 

I suppose a sign would have to be pretty large to tell this, and countless other stories around our state.
