(Editor’s Note: I know this is a “HOME TO” and not a “HOME OF” but I’m going to let it slide because I’m a big high school track fan)
Oak Park had a couple of the greatest track teams in state history with multiple state championships.
The Oak Park girls teams currently hold the state record in the 4×100 relay (46.280) 4×200 relay (1:36.66) and 4×400 relay (3:45.13)
The team of Johnyce Powell, Dorriann Coleman, Ersula Farrow and Anna Jefferson recorded the top time in state history when they ran a 3:36.72 to finish runner-up at the New Balance national championships in 2015. It is the 9th fastest high school time ever.
On the boys side, Cameron Cooper ran the 6th fastest high school 800M in 2017 (1:47.59) and their Sprint Medley Team has the 2nd fastest high school time ever! (3:20.25)
Another Oak Park fun fact is that Steve Cooper, Director of Public Safety, is a friend.
