Harbor Beach

Years ago my wife and I drove through Harbor Beach looking for signs and didn’t see anything.

A few years later we stopped there again and found a fun little toy store and bought a game called Doodle Dice.

A few years later we drove through the town again while visiting some friends in Port Austin and saw this sign!

Louis Sebille was a hero – plain and simple. After high school, he attended Wayne State University. He was a pilot in WWII and Korea. In Korea, he attacked a North Korean armored column. His plane was damaged and he was wounded. His last heroic act was to crash his plane into that column that was advancing on United Nations troops. Here is the writeup of his actions on the MOH site.

The 2012 Championship was the school’s first and they did it by throttling the high-scoring Beal City team 35-10.  Here’s a recap of the game.  

Harbor Beach is also the home of Frank Murphy – former Attorney General of the United States, Governor of Michigan and Supreme Court Justice.
