Zeeland

If you look closely at the sign you’ll see Dux and Chix.

After a little internet searching I found out that the city of Zeeland has two high schools – Zeeland East (Chix) and Zeeland West (Dux).

They split in 2005. 

Both schools have had a lot of success in all sports, especially football and track.

Chix and Dux are interesting mascot names. Apparently Chix is a reference to the fact that Zeeland was known for their chick hatcheries. Dux apparently are supposed to be close to their rivals nickname. 

One of the most well known Zeeland football player was U of M and NFL tight end Jay Riemersma. After his playing days were over he coached at Zeeland East.
