There are a lot of signs on this site that I like. There are a couple that I really like.
And then there is this one.
Hotel Company 2/26 was a Marine Corps Infantry Company that served on Iwo Jima and Khe Sahn. For the efforts in Vietnam they were awarded a Presidential Unit Citation (A PUC is awarded to a unit for extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy on or after 7 December 1941).
Many, many years ago as a young Marine infantryman stationed with Lima Company 3/9 I had the opportunity to visit Iwo Jima and simulate an amphibious landing. After the exercise we had the opportunity to explore “Sulphur Island.”
I was and will always be in awe of the brave Marines that fought on the pork chop shaped island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
