This is one of those signs that almost didn’t make the site.
There were a few signs that talked about how St. Johns holds an annual Mint Festival in August
Usually, if we see a green sign in multiple places it is rare to see a Home Of sign in the same city.
On the way out of town, as I was marking St. Johns as a “no” in our master map, my lovely wife, who’s usually the driver on our escapades, saw this sign in the rear view mirror.
I always like when signs match the school colors and I like the fact that they also show the State Runner Up teams, making a state final is quite an achievement in itself.
The 1926 Track Championship was coached by Homer Hanham and featured 4 individual state champs:
- Ivan Simpson in the Shot
- Claud Cramer in the 880
- Raymond Bunge in the 220
- Paul Ruth in the 100
