So much to talk about here. But let’s start with giving credit to my friend Tim, who saw a segment on the news and learned about this sign. Tim has a history of quality finds – you may remember his work in Holly and Elsie.
So the Funkateers. They were a dance group in the 70’s and 80’s that regularly appeared on The Scene – the Detroit version of Soul Train.

The Marvelettes were the first Motown act to have a number one song.
Please Mr. Postman topped the charts in late 1961.
The group consisted of Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, Juanita Cowart, Georgia Dobbins and Wanda Young. Here’s a link to the Marvelettes’ Spotify page.
Jeralean Talley was born on May 23, 1899. She was 116 when she passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Inkster.
And, last but certainly not lease, Zaman International is (in their own words) committed to facilitating change and advancing the lives of marginalized women and children, by enabling them to meet essential needs common to all humankind.
They were featured by CNN for their efforts and have opened a bakery to assist women with job training.
