The Michigan High School Coaches Hall of Fame has hundreds of inductees.
There are fine men and women that have dedicated their lives to coaching and shaping and positively influences young student athletes.
But, in my opinion, the most influential member was inducted in 1996. Of course I’m talking about Frank Morrow, long time swim and track coach for Utica High School.
Frank taught me how to swim, how to run, how to drive and how to coach. He was a great father figure to me and countless others.
In 1990, shortly after I got out of the Marines, I went to visit Frank at Utica. He told me there was an opening for the boys 7th and 8th grade track coach at nearby Eppler Jr. High and that I should apply. I did and for 2 years it was the best job I ever had.
He passed away in 2004. He was one of the most influential people I have ever known.
