Arcadia

In 1911 Harriet Quimby was the first woman to earn a pilot’s license. She was the first woman to fly across the English Channel (in 1912).  She wrote 7 screenplays and was the spokesperson for Vin Fiz grape soda.

Arcadia is also the home of Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course, in my opinion the finest golf course in the state.

I’ve had the pleasure of playing there a few times (during non-peak times, as I’m not filthy rich).

It is a stunningly beautiful course and the first time I played I hit a 310 yard drive on hole #11 (it’s all downhill).

Remember, intentionally hitting the ball into the water on #12 is frowned upon, even though it used to be encouraged.
