Clare

My parents bought some property near Clare on beautiful Gut Lake. Lots of fond memories of going there and stopping at Jays Sporting Goods, taking the paddle boat out on the water (no motors allowed) and driving around the Greater Clare area trying to get a small child to fall asleep.

The track team is pretty special in Clare. 3 girls state titles and 2 boys titles.

The girls teams in the 90s had 8 state champs in a 3 year period. led by Jessica Champine winning the 100 and 200 in back to back years!

Kasey Staley still holds the D3 Pole Vault record of 12′-4″ and is one of only 5 young ladies to vault over 12 feet in a state championship meet.
