On May 17th and 18th heavy rain fell across central Michigan. On May 19, 2020 the Edenville dam collapsed and the Sanford dam became structurally unsound. The two lakes (Wixom and Sanford) flooded and then drained.

A lot of the water ended up in Sanford.

It was one thing to see the damage on the news and in photos. It’s something totally different to see it in person.

This article says that Sanford was destroyed but it wasn’t. The town is down but not out.

(And kudos to the baseball and softball state champs.)
